This is just a quick post showing some favor bags and tags that I put together for my friend Jennifer's bridal shower. I used Lawn Fawn's Goodie Bag to die cut the bags from some dark blue paper sized 12x12, which allowed me to get 4 die cuts (two completed bags) from each sheet. After die cutting all the bag pieces, I folded the bags at each score line and pressed well with my bone folder. I then opened up half of the bag pieces, to be the front of the bags, and began to decorate them.
I stamped the large peony outline from Altenew's Peony Bouquet in the bottom left corner of half of the die cuts, for the front of the bags. This flower image and it's placement coordinates with this set of thank you cards that her sister asked me to make. I used Hero Arts Navy ink to stamp the subtle flower image, lining up everything in my MISTI. I masked off the bottom and side part of the bags with Post-It masking tape, to keep the stamping was only on the front panel, so that it did not go over the edge onto to the bottom flap.
I used the "love" sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Stitched Heart Envelope die to cut some mirrored gold cardstock. Before I did any die cutting, I put double-sided tape on the back of the gold cardstock. Then once it was cut, I was able to just pull up the sentiment and it already had a nice strong adhesive attached to the thin lines of the font. Each "love" sentiment was placed on the front of the bags, just above the flower image, to help brighten up the bags.
Once all the bag fronts were decorated, I started to assemble the bags. I used my ATG to apply adhesive to the bottom flap of the bag front and stuck the bottoms together, making sure that the front of the bag was on the bottom so that the seam would be in the back.
I then folded over the small flaps on the box sides and ran strips of ATG adhesive onto them.
I carefully folded everything up and attached the side flaps to the inside of the front and back of each box. I pressed really well with my bone folder to make sure it wouldn't fall apart and open up. Here's what a completed bag looks like from above, before and after the sides are pinched/folded in.
And with that, each bag was complete! Of course, I couldn't just stop there...
Even though all the bags were identical, I still wanted to customize each one, so I decided to make tags with each person's name. The tags were cut from gold vellum using the second largest die from Lawn Fawn's Large Stitched 4 Bar Rectangles. I custom stamped each person's name with Concord & 9th's Sophisticated Script and Sophisticated Script Uppercase sets. Since vellum has a slick surface, I used Midnight Blue Staz-On to stamp the names. I also added a printed "You're the Bomb" sentiment in dark blue on some heavy weight vellum, then cut them into flag shapes with the largest Lawn Fawn Sentiment Banner die.
The bags were filled with bath bombs wrapped in gold tissue paper, then tucked into the middle of tulle and tissue paper layers. I used 12" x 6" strips layered in the following order: white tulle with gold foil dots (face down), dark blue glimmer tulle, gold tissue paper (face down). The tissue-wrapped bath bombs were placed right in the middle of the strips, and then the tulle/tissue layers were folded up around it. I used 12" lengths because I wanted the layers to stick out above the top of the bags which are 4" tall when assembled.
To make it easy to measure and cut the tulle, I used some scrap chipboard measured to 12" lengths and wrapped the tulle around and around. Each complete rotation would yield 2 strips when cut. So once I had wrapped around enough times, I cut along the top and bottom which left me with 12" pieces of tulle in nice little stacks. I also did this with the twine, I just used chipboard cut to 7" instead. (The twine tied around the tulle was just to keep it from unraveling during transport.)
I thought the gold dots on the tulle went with the gold dotted design on the thank you cards. (Thinking of that scene from Boomerang again!) I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch holes in the tags, which made it easy to go through them in two stacks rather than one by one. Each tag was then attached to the bag handles with the hemp/gold twine that I had found in my stash. The vellum flags were tucked into each bag, just in front of the tulle & tissue paper.
The bridal shower was hosted by Jennifer's sisters, Jamie and Melanie, and her stepmom, Brenda. It was at Brenda's house and there was a sideboard in her entryway that was just the right length to line up all the favor bags - it really couldn't have been more perfect! They looked amazing and totally matched the day, which was absolutely beautiful and filled with so much laughter & love!
OK, I realize at the beginning of this post I said it was going to be quick (ha!), but I'm telling you, everything was gorgeous - so here are lots of pictures! First, the lovely ladies (from L to R: Melanie, Jennifer (the bride-to-be), Brenda, and Jamie) and the decorations...
And now the food...YUM!! I almost felt bad eating everything because it looked so perfect, but I got over it.
