GoT Birthday Card using Mama Elephant's Brand New Dragon Sets

One of my best friends is just now watching (read: bingeing) Game of Thrones, and she's expressed how the Mother of Dragons is her favorite character. My husband and I are also big fans of the show, and both our kids love dragons, so me owning these dragon stamps was bound to happen. I literally had an alarm set on my phone and placed my order within 10 minutes of Mama Elephant's release going live.

I knew I wanted to use three of the dragons in my design - representing myself and my kids - since I sometimes feel like I'm a mother to two wild dragons! I also wanted a stormy sky background, and had the perfect patterned paper for it. The clouds were cut from vellum with two of the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Borders dies, and the mountains from Silver Mist Glitter Silk cardstock using Honey Bee Stamps' Mountain Border die. I stamped the large dragon from Me & My Dragon and the two smaller ones from Dragon Wishes onto Neenah Solar White 80 lb cardstock, using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink, as I knew I wanted to color them in with Copic markers. The images were cut out and colored with the following:

Large dragon: G21, G24, G28, R81 for the ears, V17 for the spots

Smaller dragons: BG05, BG07, BG09, R81, V17 and YG05, YG07, YG09, R81, V17

Fire: Y15, YR68, R29

Smoke: T1

I adhered the vellum clouds and mountain range to the bottom edge of the patterned paper with scor-tape, and then trimmed the panel down to 5 3/8" x 4 1/8". This allowed for a very thin border to be visible after it was adhered to an A2 size of black Bazzill cardstock with my ATG. I also stamped the sentiments in Versamark embossing ink onto another piece of vellum, covered it with Hero Arts white embossing powder, and melted the powder with my heat tool. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp's Sweet Cakes set, and the "me and all of my dragons" is from Mama Elephant's Dragon Wishes. I did alter the sentiment slightly by cutting off the beginning and then switching it around a little - it originally read "all of me and my dragons" - only because I thought it read better for this card. This vellum sentiment strip was attached to the Glitter Silk mountains using small drops of Glossy Accents placed behind the embossed areas.

The card front was attached to a top fold landscape A2 card base made from Neenah Solar White 110 lb cardstock, cut to 5.5" x 8.5" and scored at 4.25". The dragons were attached to the card front using 3L thin foam squares and Tombow Mono Dots adhesive. I tucked part of the smaller dragons under the vellum to give the impression they were behind those clouds. I then added some stars from Pretty Pink Posh's Silver Mini Star Confetti, using Glossy Accents and a Marvy jewel picker.

When I gave the card to my friend, I jokingly reminded her that I'm the real Mother of Dragons - ha!
